Nuclear Materials Research

Vision

To provide technology and methodology to customers for achieving the integrity of structural components and reliable safety margin at current LWRs and also promote these advancements of innovative Generation IV nuclear energy systems (SMR, SFR, MSR, etc.)

Mission

To address materials/water chemistry issues, using cutting-edge technical systems and state-of-the-art engineering analysis in support of asset protection and mitigation from environmental degradation of components at LWRs, and furthermore expand in-depth R/D programs for developing assessment methodology to evaluate advanced reactor technologies.

Solution

To identify and evaluate the root-causes of materials failure during plant operation and provide on-line monitoring systems for ensuring compliances with current safety regulations and benchmark against industry best practices, and eventually develop the protection/mitigation methods for continuous improvement to safe operation of LWRs and new plants.
